Water in your body

August 11th, 2009 by admin

We got to our camping destination and got ready for the hike into the spot. We indicated on the permit, we would be spending Saturday evening at Deep Creek Trail Campsite 53.

At approximately 3:00 PM (Sunday), Greg and I began preparing the inside of the tent to stay another night. We had plenty of food and began to eat some. Our water was low, but there was a small stream just behind the campsite. My biggest fear was that I would loose consciousness and greg would try to walk out by himself and I told him if this happened, just keep me covered up and stay put. Someone would be there eventually.

The Ranger asked me if I could walk now and I began moving around with the aid of my walking stick and I began feeling somewhat better, yet weak. Shortly, several National Forest Service employees and another GSMNP Ranger arrived and began breaking camp and packed everything in two packs for the mile long walk to awaiting vehicles.
The female Ranger rode behind me and periodically asked me how I felt and kept an eye on greg.

We eventually arrived in the parking lot at the Deep Creek Campground where we were met by wife and my Mother. I tried to get around and personally thank everyone for the rescue, but I am sure I missed some.

Comfortable camping tents

July 30th, 2009 by admin

The camping tent is the most important among camping equipment. The camping tent should be tough to withstand rough usage when camping. A good camping tent is guaranteed to last for five years and will keep you dry when it rains heavily and stay firmly on the ground when strong winds are blowing. They vary in price depending on the quality and measurements of the tent. A dome tent is the lightest and easiest among camping tents to put up.

Dome tents come in solo and family sizes. The traditional frame tents are heavy and take a long time to set up. Goto. The cost effective method is to rent camping tents because you need the tent only while camping and storing it away can be a chore. Campsites offer a package with camping tents and camping equipment forming a part of the package giving a no stress alternative for the camper A good camping tent is the basis of successful and comfortable camping. Skinny Dipping and Camping

July 27th, 2009 by admin

I love to camp. And I really really love to be able to swim when I’m camping. Especially in the summer, I just love a dip when I’m out in the woods. I know that there are many ways to enjoy yourself while camping. But, for me, a dip in the water is more refreshing than the most amazing shower you could ever take. So, I say, no matter what the temperature is out there, you need to really consider how wonder that water would feel over your body. Even if you don’t I’m sure you will enjoy your camping experience. You’re in the woods. That’s pretty good!

When Will It Be Spring

July 22nd, 2009 by admin

Last fall I has simply the best camping trip ever. I have posted about the trip before, so I don’t want to repeat myself. But, to summarize, it was a fantastic fall day when it was warmer than you would have expected. It was one of those days that sneak up on you. There you are, alone with nature Camping hammocks and you stop and have a serious moment. Do you know what I mean by that? I mean, it was a really BIG moment. I’m not sure where those types of experiences come from, or how to repeat them. But one thing is for sure, you are going to seek that type of experience again. I mean, why would you now want something that felt so good to happen again. So anyway, I don’t have that much to say today except that, yes, I’m ready to be back in the woods again.

Camping when it’s raining

July 17th, 2009 by admin

Instead of taking a trip to Cedar Point for the 4th of July weekend we decided to take our 3 boys camping. So I purchased a 15 X 7 Coleman dome tent. We also purchased some camping items we needed such as a Coleman stove, coffee peculator, sleeping bag for me. We also had a small tent for our 10 yr.old twin sons.

Something I think you will enjoy.

About 7 a.m. my husband got up and decided to pack it up and go home. We had no dry place to go. We had no canopy or tarp over the picnic table, no shelter from the rain. Everyone else at the campground seemed to be asleep, snug and dry in their tents. (they came prepared)

The kind salesman advised us to take the new tent home and set it up and hose it down good. Then go inside and see where the water has leaked in. After everything dries apply seam sealer and also spray the tent with silicone spray to help it repel water. Eureaka! Seam sealer! We should have done that the first time. We should have been better prepared for rain. Sometimes you learn the hard way!

Outdoor camping on the point

July 11th, 2009 by admin

When I was first a camp counselor, it was a long long time ago. People would play tricks on me. One time, I stepped right into IT.

From then on, I needed to get back at the people who did this to me. The gal that did this to me found her 1976 Ford station wagon sitting on its rims alone. lol. Now how I pulled that off is another story in and of itself.

It’s hard to play pranks and not brag to anyone at camp; therefore, I relish the opportunity to tell a story or two via the internet.

Another good prank is putting itching powder in between sheets. Some girls could not understand why they did not get a good night’s rest. lol.

Each year you will think of new and exiting pranks for summer camp. They make it lively.

Family camping tents For You

Great To Have You Here

We really hope you see value in your visit to our blog.

You are reading our very first post. It is our intention to make this blog as helpful as we can. Our focus is on camp stuff. We dig camping and we’re guessing you do too. That’s why you’ve come here after all. We’ve been camping all our lives. But we never ever get tired of it. It’s simply such a great experience. There is something really cool about being in the great outdoors that is like nothing else. I’m not sure exactly how to describe it completely. But it is our goal to bring some of those experiences to this blog for you to share. I’m sure many of you could share similar experiences. So we all have something in common. It is my hope that this blog can bring us together in ways that would not be otherwise possible.

I will try to have more to say tomorrow. But I was excited to at least get one post up and running on my new blog! Thanks again for stopping by.

Camping site thoughts

July 4th, 2009 by admin

Us three boys got out the tent, and started setting it up. John and I thought that we knew what we were doing, but it took quite a while, and a good bit of help from Linda and my mother to actually get the tent up. Once the tent was set up, we put all our sleeping bags, and clothes in the tent, and then we headed into the village to have some fun.

I quickly woke my mother up, not knowing why there was a puddle in the tent, and thinking that perhaps one of the other boys had an accident or something. Shortly, everyone in the tent was awake, and the flashlights were on, and then we all realized what was going on. It had started raining out, and we had broken a fair number of important camping rules.

First off, our tent was in a low spot, which had pretty much turned into a small pond when the rain started. Then, to make matters worse, we had no rain fly, or tarp, so the rain was leaking through the roof. The seams in the tent had not been sealed, so they were leaking too, and we had 5 people in a tent that was probably big enough for 2 or 3 at most, so there were sleeping bags, pillows, and clothing bags against the fabric walls of the tent everywhere, causing more leaks.

I’m now 32 years old. I still remember that camping trip. I had such a good time, despite the rain, that I return to the Adirondack Camping Village every summer, now with my wife, and our three kids. Camping recipes

What was your first tent

June 26th, 2009 by admin

Remember your first tent? My children are having their first play time with tents. Sure, the tent may only be in the living room. I find it very rewarding to see the same enthusiasm in my kids that I have. I think this is something you should really encourage. Reflect on the great things that have happened as a result of your camping. Now think about all of those great things that lie ahead for your kids. This is why you need to actively encourage this stuff when they are young. So, I’ll get off my soap box and back on point. The entire family can enjoy camping and I think you’ll be happy that you introduced it to your kids early.
